The Series

Britcar started in 2002 at Snetterton on a cold, wet & windy day with 11 cars and 22 drivers.

Since then, the club has become increasingly popular. The headline series is known as Britcar and is for GT, touring and production-based cars competing in endurance races ranging from 50 minutes to 24 hours in length.

September 2005 saw the first Britcar 24 hour race in conjunction with Willhire & Dunlop. A grid of 55 cars lined up for the start on the famous Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Many of the competing cars have professional and experienced drivers from the worlds of British Touring Cars, Le Mans and even Formula 1. After just 3 seasons, the Jemco team is becoming increasingly competitive in this series.

There is generally a relaxed atmosphere at Britcar events. The paddock and pit areas are accessible and most teams will take the time to talk to passing enthusiasts, spectators and fans.

Over the last few months, we have installed a 120 litre fuel tank in the Marcos and done some weight-saving work (on the car and drivers!) and believe that we’re going to be more competitive this year. There’s going to be some great racing. The top class looks ultra-competitive with new Moslers, a Viper, Corvette and Lamborghini Gallardo in addition to the usual BMW, Porsche & Marcos cars.

In our class, Jemco’s number 34 car will be up against its usual foes and our benchmark will, once again, be to out-qualify and beat the Topcats car. In addition, the GTS BMW is back and will be stiff competition. And, we mustn’t allow Firman & Morris any opportunity to get one over us this season! There are 12 cars competing in the championship in our class and we should be aiming for regular podiums this year.

The Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge is the leading race series in Britain for sports, saloon and GT cars from the 1960s and 1970s.

For 2007, the Heritage GTCC has a fabulous calendar, headlined by support races at the A1 GP and World Touring Car Championship meetings on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

Other high-profile dates include support slots to the British Touring Car Championship and British F3/GT Championships at Donington Park, Snetterton, Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps. In 2008, the HGTCC is taking race action for some wonderful cars to a very wide audience!

With classes to suit cars in varying stages of modification and careful control of technical eligibility, the series delivers fabulous racing and entertainment for both the drivers and the fans.
